Last Minute Reminders
Yes, for our annual event, we’re returning to the University of Delaware’s Laird campus, which many of last year’s attendees termed the best venue we’ve ever had for an assembly.
In case you haven’t had the pleasure and privilege of attending a synod assembly, you might think of it as a cross between a family reunion and a business meeting. There will be worship services every day, lots of inspiration from a keynote speaker and a Bible study leader, important business to conduct, and plenty of fellowship. The use of “big screen technology” will allow us, once again, to enliven the proceedings with high-tech graphics.
Each congregation, regardless of its size, is entitled to two lay voting members, one male and one female, although it’s acceptable for a congregation to send only one voting member if circumstances dictate. Larger congregations may be entitled to additional voting members. All pastors and rostered lay leaders are voting members as well.
As has been the case for many years, the registration deadline is April 1. So start planning now to select your voting members! Watch for the official announcement letter and enclosed registration cards to reach your congregation in early February.
This year’s registration costs will stay the same for visitors and retired people, $40, while the cost for voting members will increase minimally to $125.
If you’d like to reminisce about the fun we had at the 2003 assembly, check out last year’s assembly page, including the online photo album.
