Delaware Maryland Synod 1988 - Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

2004 Assembly: Theme

Theme: “Marked with the Cross of Christ Forever, We Are Claimed”

Theme explanation by the Synod Assembly Planning Committee:

In baptism we are claimed, we are chosen, by God to be God's sons and daughters. In baptism, we are marked with the cross of Christ, a sign that we are members of his family and that we belong to him. Our lives become an expression of this identity, living like those whose source of life and hope is God.

Description of theme presentation by Keynote Speaker Kelly Fryer:

“The Gift Is The Call! Ten Keys To Creating Dynamic Disciples In Every Congregation” This presentation will encourage leaders to create a culture and a climate in their congregations that invites people to live out the call they received as a gift in their baptism. Using a biblical model and a theological framework, this engagingly blunt, sometimes humorous, and interactive presentation will explore the keys to being, developing, equipping, and empowering dynamic disciples in the congregation. Topics include: leading with prayer, putting the Word in people’s hands, the importance of “I don’t know,” helping people see what you see, making failure OK, really believing that “Everybody Has Something To Offer,” and more.
