(09-18-06)

All rostered leaders and spouses in the Delaware-Maryland Synod are urged to attend the 2006 Bishop's Leadership Days, set for Oct. 15-17 in Rehoboth, Del. This Sunday - Tuesday event is designed as a time of learning, conversation and fellowship among the pastors, associates in ministry, diaconal ministers, and ordained staff, as well as a time of rest and relaxation.

This year's keynote speaker is of special interest. The Rev. Dr. Mark N. Swanson joined the faculty of the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago (LSTC)on July 1, 2006, as the Harold S. Vogelaar Professor of Christian-Muslim Studies and Interfaith Relations. He is also working with the newly-formed Center for Christian-Muslim Engagement for Peace and Justice, which will be inaugurated at LSTC on Thurs., Sept. 21, followed by a major conference. Dr. Swanson will make two different presentations at the Bishop's Leadership Days, both on the broad topic of Christian-Muslim relations and ministry in today's world.
