Applications invited for mission/outreach grants
The 2006 synod budget provides $50,000 for mission/outreach grants to be awarded to congregations and ministries of the Delaware-Maryland Synod. If your congregation requires program support or if you are planning a special outreach program to seek new members, you are eligible to apply.
The Grant Application Form and the Synod Mission Fund Guidelines can be downloaded from this Web site, or they may be requested from Holly Crispell, (410) 230-2865, (800)869-5492. The completed forms must be received in the synod office no later than Monday, October 31. Awards will be announced following final approval by the Synod Council in November and will cover the fiscal year beginning February 1, 2006.
The Outreach Mission Force has established criteria for assessing the proposals. They include:
- A limit of one grant per ministry per year with a maximum award of $15,000.
- Priority to new mission starts or re-development efforts that are supported in partnership with the Division for Outreach, ELCA.
- Priority to new mission or outreach initiatives.
- Availability of other resources such as congregational endowments, mission partner funds and grants from sources like the Colehower Fund for Evangelism.
- Unforeseen circumstances that result in urgent financial need.
Please note: The Synod Council stipulates two special requirements.
- No congregation that has failed to submit a current Congregational Report to the ELCA (known also as the "Parochial Report") will be eligible for consideration until the report has been properly submitted.
- A list of all sources and amounts of income both to the congregation and to ministries sponsored by the congregation during the previous fiscal year and the current fiscal year to October 1, 2005, must be submitted with the application.
