between the
Delaware-Maryland Synod
and the
Northern Great Lakes Synod
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
We are people of God called by the Holy Spirit to be the Church. All power in the Church belongs to our Lord Jesus Christ, its Head. All actions of these above-named synods are to be carried out under His rule and authority.
Seeking the guidance of the Spirit and faithfulness to Christ, the Delaware-Maryland Synod enters into this Prayer Covenant with our brothers and sisters of the Northern Great Lakes Synod.
Believing that the mission of these synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is to initiate, nurture, and celebrate partnerships in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we commit to hold in daily prayer:
- That our common witness would express, reflect, and embrace a balance of proclamation, education, service, fellowship, worship and advocacy for justice and the environment.
- That our congregations and ministries would become healthier and more passionate in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and moving beyond maintenance to mission.
- That we would identify leaders, resources, and opportunities for reaching out to the unchurched, addressing the needs of society and developing effective leaders and faithful disciples.
- That with thanksgiving we, as bishops, pastors, rostered leaders and laity, would together make a credible witness for Christ and be renewed in our vocation as his disciples.
