The staff of the Delaware-Maryland Synod is committed to prayer during their regular staff meetings. They pray not only for individuals with particular concerns but also for congregations. Over the course of a year, each congregation is prayed for by name at least once. The order is determined randomly by computer so that a congregation prayed for in March of one year might be prayed for in December of the next. Click here for a .pdf file showing when your congregation is being prayed for.
The staff also asks that congregations pray for them. To help, we’re offering the following “blurbs” for use in your congregation’s newsletters and/or bulletins. Please copy and paste them into your publications as appropriate.

Our church joins with 182 other Evangelical Lutheran Church in America congregations in Delaware and Maryland as the Delaware-Maryland Synod, and we are "Sent To Share and Serve" in ministry and mission to our communities. Over the course of 12 months, the synod staff, led by Bishop H. Gerard "Jerry" Knoche, prays by name for each congregation, its pastors and staff, its people and its ministries. The synod staff will be praying for our church this month and has asked us to pray especially for the synod during that time. Will you please include in your personal prayers this month a request that God continue to bless and strengthen Bishop Knoche and the synod staff in their service to our congregation and others in the synod? When our congregation needs help finding a new staff member, the starting point is the Rev. Mary Miller-Zurell, assistant to the bishop of the Delaware-Maryland Synod, the group of 183 Lutheran congregations to which we belong. Pr. Miller-Zurell and the synod staff are directly responsible for ensuring that the match between rostered leader and congregation is a good one. The synod also provides continuing education for pastors, including the innovative Leadership Academy. Walking together as the synod, we are "Sent To Share and Serve." This month, Bishop Jerry Knoche and the synod staff are praying by name for our church and have asked us to pray especially for the synod. Will you please include in your personal prayers this month the synod, its staff and volunteers, and the ministry it performs in your name? The Delaware-Maryland Synod, the group of 183 Evangelical Lutheran Church in America congregations of which our church is a part, devotes a considerable amount of its time and resources to mission through its congregations, including evangelism, prison ministry, hunger ministry, health ministry, campus ministry, learning ministries, stewardship, and youth programs. Together with our synod brothers and sisters, we are "Sent To Share and Serve." This month, Bishop Jerry Knoche and the synod staff are praying specifically for our church and have asked us to pray especially for the synod during that time. Will you please include in your personal prayers this month the synod, its staff and volunteers, and the ministry it performs in your name? Throughout Jesus' ministry, he called on his followers to share the gifts God had given them. One way we do this today is through the Delaware-Maryland Synod, the group of 183 Lutheran congregations to which we belong. By joining forces and acknowledging that we are "Sent To Share and Serve," we increase considerably the effect we can have. Through the synod, our congregation supports global mission programs, advocacy in both state legislatures, ecumenical programs, Mar-Lu-Ridge outdoor ministry, and social ministry organizations like Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries, Lutheran Community Services of Wilmington, and Carroll Lutheran Village. This month, synod staff members are praying by name for our church and have asked us to pray especially for the synod. Please remember in prayer the synod, its staff and volunteers, and the ministry it performs in your name. To learn more about the synod, visit DeMdSynod.org and DeMdSynod.blogspot.com. |
